MALO, JAMES R.

YEARS OF SERVICE:  1970-1975

BIO:  James left the service with the rank of E-4. His military occupation was Airframe Repairman. During his time in service he received the National Defense Service Medal, Expert Badge M-16, 1 Overseas Service Bar, Vietnam Campaign Medal W/60 Device, Vietnam Service Medal W/2 Campaign Stars and the Good Conduct Medal. James was last stationed with Co A 159th Avn 101st ABN Div. When James first got to Vietnam his unit was caught in a typhoon at Chu Lai. The base was destroyed and the men lived on C-rations for three days and lived in a barn. After the storm they were re-assembled and sent north to join the 101st Airborne in Plieku, close to the Cambodian border, where he spent the remainder of his tour.
