YEARS OF SERVICE: 1972-1974

MIXSON, CHARLES M

BIOGRAPHY: Entered service September 20, 1972. Did basic training at Ft Polk, Louisiana, AIT at FT, Sill, Oklahoma, MOS was a 15E30 AZLAY Specialist and a 15E10 Missile Crewman. Served in the 1/41 Field Artillery Unit in Schwabish Gmund,Germany. Our unit was a mobile nuclear missile unit. We were the main deterent to a Russian invasion of Western Europe during the Cold War. Received the National Defense Ribbon and attained the rank of Spec 4. Drafted out of college as a European History major, it was the opportunity of a lifetime to see the things I studied in college. Moved to Minnesota after the service because of an army buddy and never left.
